One is a fully custom-fabricated piece that we design together, and then have built entirely from scratch to match our beautiful blueprint. Someone melts the metal into a mold, sets the stones by hand, polishes it up, the whole 9 yards. This is our longer process.
The other method is a faster, more pre-built “custom-curated” model where you select a stone, a precast mount, and any other limited embellishments that we can offer (special chain, setting with extra stones, etc).
How long does the process for a fully custom-fabricated piece take from start to finish?
Depending on how many times we meet, and how far apart those meetings are, the creation process can take anywhere between 1-2 months (before shipping time).
The steps of the process are as follows, time may vary slightly.
Design meeting, layout and CAD (two weeks)
Wax cutting (two days)
Casting and setting (two weeks)
How long does a custom-curated piece take?
This can take as little as a few days. You tell us which stone, which precast mount.
How long does shipping usually take, and how much does it cost?
Once your ring is done, our high-value courier (UPS or FedEx) will have your piece to you either next-day or second-day.
Costs depend on location and value of the piece due to insurance costs. For a detailed price and time range, you can ask us through our contact page.
What is the majority of your work?
The majority of what we do is engagement rings, wedding bands, and pieces for special occasions (anniversaries, birthdays, etc). We are very flexible, however, If there is any project we don’t feel we are a good fit for, we know several other fantastic jewelers to refer you to and are happy to do so. Please feel free to reach out to us with any proposals you have.
What is the average price of a custom engagement ring?
The cost of a custom ring is dependent on several factors such as metal, stone (size, clarity, natural or lab, etc.), setting, and of course time for the teams to build the piece. There is no one-size-fits-all, but that’s the beauty of customization.
The average middle-ground range for a custom piece is about $5k-$7k, but the full range can be anywhere from $1k to as much as $20k.
What metals do you work with in your custom designs?
14kt and 18kt gold (white or yellow), and platinum
What is the most popular diamond shape for an engagement ring as of 2024?
This changes often but as of our latest experience, the most popular cuts are round and cushion with oval as a close contender.
What is the difference between “fine” and “luxury/high” jewelry?
Fine jewelry is a general term for any jewelry made from precious metals and denotes high-cost/high-monetary-value.
Luxury jewelry, known as High jewelry in the industry, is the term used to set apart pieces of a more exclusive and artistic nature. High jewelry pieces have a level of exclusivity to them because they are not mass-manufactured and are almost always one-of-a-kind. This means that regardless of the monetary cost of the item, the artistry and unique design make it a luxury item.
What is the best way to clean my jewelry?
Typically the best way to clean jewelry is with a soft-bristle toothbrush and a mild soap.
Another cleaner we often use is equal parts Mr. Clean, ammonia, and water. It’s perfectly safe for you and any jewelry with hard stones (diamonds, emeralds, rubies etc). Let it soak for a few minutes, then scrub gently with your toothbrush.
